The Unknown Ellington
For those Duke Ellington devotees visiting this page, please follow the menu

The Unknown Ellington.
I have posted a great number of sound samples
generated from untitled manuscripts I have studied at the Smithsonian Institution
in Washington DC. Some I have already identified but there are many more. Perhaps
you can recognised an Ellington composition?
Calling jazz musicians!
Are you a jazz musician in the Cambridge area, or anywhere in East Anglia?
I am looking for keen players - strong readers and competent soloists - to
form a jazz orchestra specifically for the purpose of rehearsing, and
ultimately performing, my many transcriptions of the works of Duke Ellington.
My transcriptions are accurate and honest recreations based on the original
manuscripts which I research at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC.
Not third-party arrangements, but Ellington's original orchestrations. This
music is not widely available, nor is much known of the Ellington repertoire
to many people beyond a small set of his most renowned works. Transcribers such as myself
work to bring Ellington's music to a wider audience. If you are interested
in playing Ellington's music, please
e-mail me!

www.ellington-music.co.uk,
where I am selling those of my transcriptions for which I have publishing rights.
